Warts

Warts are skin infections caused by viruses of the human papilloma virus (HPV) family. Children are most exposed to this type of infection, but teenagers and adults can get them too. Some are sexually transmitted but most of them appear on a person's fingers, hands or feet. Some people or most exposed to them, others never never getting them. The reason isn't quite certain, but doctors believe the immune system makes them less likely to get the virus.

The viruses that cause these skin infections are passed from person to person by close skin contact. A tiny bruise or scratch can make one more exposed to contracting the virus. A wart can be easily recognized, it is a small and hard bump on the skin with a rough texture. They are either white, brown or pink and contain tiny spots.

Warts are usually painless. They can cause a slight discomfort if appear on the sole of your foot. They can sometimes itch or bleed and can easily become infected with bacteria, if one scratches or picks at them too often. Sadly, there is no way to prevent warts but a good hygiene is strongly recommended. If you do have warts, don't rub, scratch, or pick at them so as not to transmit the virus.  In time, many warts disappear on their own. With treatment, warts can usually be removed within a few weeks but to fully get rid of them, the virus needs to be removed.
